Kite Dreams
“Throw your dream into space like a kite, and you do not know what it will bring back, a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country.” -Anais Nin
Been throwing lots of kite dreams into the sky, not knowing when, how, or what they will bring back. Just trusting that little strand of hope I’ve tethered to them and the ribbons of faith tied to their tails. That’s the funny thing about life, I’ve learned, is it’s not so much about desperately chasing your dreams… but about letting them go… knowing deep, deep in your bones that you’ve made them strong enough to bear the winds and rain. Knowing that they’re tied tight to your wrist and you will carry them with you. Maybe losing sight of them in the clouds every once in a while, but trusting that they will come back into view with patience and commitment. Then one day, before you know it, you’ll look around and realize that all of your dreams have landed exactly where they needed to. Some have seen better days, some you had to cut loose, all those plus the ones that you pulled back time and time again, have brought you something truly worthwhile — a life well lived. All you had to do was let them fly.
